2024 Spring Education Event – Flint Gateway Center
Four different events take place during the weekend:
Student and Graduate Session – open to all students and recent graduates. 9 am to 12 pm
Students and recent grads – welcome to the family! This presentation includes a segment that will give you an overview of all of the members of your new massage professional family as well as provide you with specific steps for licensure. A Q&A session with a panel of LMTs and employers rounds out the morning with insider tips for your job search and success in the field.
Breakfast and lunch are included. Pre-registration is required. There is no charge for this session.
Massage Cupping Two-Day Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 6 pm both days
This workshop reviews history of vacuum therapies, applications and contraindications, followed by a brief demonstration. The rest of the time will be spent on actual treatment. Supplies will be provided.
Saturday morning lecture 9am to 12:00 noon
Exploring Chronic Pain Relief 1 CE Meets the Michigan LMT renewal requirements for Pain and Symptom Management.
Ethics and Boundaries 2 CEs Meets the Michigan LMT renewal requirements for Ethics and Boundaries.
Saturday afternoon lecture 1:00 to 4:00 PM
Three hours of Implicit Bias Training include our lack of awareness, patterns of bias and the consequences that result. It will continue with the ways that bias affect the ability of people to receive fair and equitable treatment in a professional setting. The sessions will look at ways to engage in meaningful dialogue and the next steps to take. These meet the 3 hours of training required for LMT license renewal.
